Discover the Power of Happasized Happiness

I made up a new word:

HAPPASIZED.

It came from thinking about yoga.

You might go to the same yoga class every week and do many of the same postures. You don’t need ten new postures every Tuesday. You repeat them—and somehow, you change.

The posture is familiar, but your experience of it isn’t. Your body, awareness, and relationship to the posture are different.

You become, in a sense, YOGASIZED.

What if happiness works the same way?

You might have ten favorite memories—moments of connection, joy, wonder, or simply feeling good. You can return to those same experiences through sketching, remembering, noticing connections, and exploring feelings.

They may be the same memories, but the experience isn’t necessarily the same.

These become many meditations of your own happiness.

The goal isn’t to make yourself happy. It’s to practice the process that allows happiness to emerge.

Why a class?

You could do this at home.

But I’ve learned something from physical therapy.

When I had a minor softball injury, I was given exercises to do at home. I did some of them. But at home it was easy to put them off—or do only a few.

At the therapy session, there was an hour set aside for one thing:

doing the exercises.

A yoga class works the same way. You could do the postures at home, but showing up gives you the time and attention to actually practice.

That’s what I want my weekly Zoom class to be.

It doesn’t have to be a completely new program every week. We can return to familiar practices—favorite memories, sketching, connections, feelings—and give them our full attention.

Because the practice isn’t necessarily about finding something new.

It’s about showing up.

Over time, you may become more familiar with how your own happiness happens. You may find it easier to recognize, enter, and expand that experience.

You become…

HAPPASIZED.

You don’t go to yoga because you need a new posture every week.

You go because you need to practice.

Maybe happiness is the same way.

Come spend an hour. See what happens.
