A Three-Foot Sphere of Joy, Presence, and Peac
What if happiness is not something we have to find, create, or chase?
What if it is something we can remember and reconnect with?
Bring to mind a few moments in your life when you experienced genuine happiness or joy. Not just a passing pleasure, but a moment that became deeply integrated into who you are — a memory you can return to because it still carries its original feeling.
It might be recent.
It might be from many years ago.
It might be an experience you have repeated many times.
Return to that place.
Where were you?
Who was there?
What was happening?
Notice the details: the time of day, the surroundings, the weather, the temperature, the sounds, the smells, the textures, and the tastes.
See the memory as if it were displayed on a giant IMAX screen.
But the purpose is not simply to remember the event.
The purpose is to reconnect with the feeling within the event.
The feeling of happiness.
The feeling of joy.
The feeling of being completely satisfied with this moment exactly as it is.
Now imagine that feeling of happiness as a bubble of awareness within you.
Breathe in the fragrance of joy.
Breathe in the feeling of contentment.
Allow that happiness to spread throughout your body and fill your awareness.
Now imagine that this happiness expands outward.
A second sphere forms around you, extending three feet in every direction.
This three-foot sphere becomes your protective field.
The inner bubble contains the experience of happiness.
The outer sphere surrounds and protects that experience.
It is like a force field of awareness.
Anything coming toward you from the outside — or rising from the unconscious — meets the edge of this three-foot boundary first.
Thoughts, worries, fears, and anxieties may approach like clouds, storms, thunder, and lightning.
But they meet the outer edge of the sphere.
They bounce off the barrier.
They do not enter the center.
Inside this protected space, you remain calm.
You remain content.
You remain connected to the happiness you have contacted within yourself.
The outer sphere allows you to move through the world without being overwhelmed by everything moving through the world.
You can notice what is happening without becoming what is happening.
Like the Earth traveling through space, everything around you is constantly changing, yet there can still be a place of stillness within the movement.
Perhaps happiness is not something we achieve.
Perhaps happiness is a field we learn to recognize.
A field within us.
A field around us.
A field of awareness that allows us to move through life with openness, connection, and peace.
