Finding Inner Balance Through Breath

Think back to when you first learned to ride a bicycle. The wobbling, the hesitation, the sudden jolts of imbalance that sent you scrambling to regain control. At first, you had to focus on every movement—every shift in weight, every correction of the handlebars. But then, something clicked. The balancing stopped being something you did and became something that happened. The moment you stopped thinking about balance, you were simply riding.

Now, bring that same awareness to the breath. Just as the bicycle gave you a structure through which balance could emerge, the breath gives you a structure through which inner balance can be known. Right now, notice your breath—not forcing it, not controlling it, just feeling it move. Where is it most noticeable? The cool air at your nostrils? The rise and fall of your chest? The subtle movement deep in your belly? Just like riding, the more you relax into it, the more balance emerges on its own.

Now, let’s go deeper. Beneath the surface of breath, beneath the movement of thought, there is something steady, something waiting. Imagine reaching down into yourself, just like reaching into a well. Past the layers of restlessness, past the noise of the day, past whatever hesitation or doubt might arise. Feel the depth below. Not of water, but of something even more essential—intention.

You don’t create this intention; it has always been there, just as balance is always within you when you ride. It radiates from the core of your being, from the will to exist, the will to be in unity. This is the source.

With your next breath, imagine dipping your hand into this well, feeling the cool stillness of its presence. As you inhale, draw it in—fill yourself with the clarity it holds. And as you exhale, let it move outward, spreading into the space around you. With each breath, you are carrying this deep intention into the world, just as every effortless pedal stroke carries you forward on the bicycle.

The well never runs dry. No matter the turbulence above, the source remains. Balance is always there. You only have to remember to reach in.
