A river is made up of the flow of water as gravity pulls it towards its destination of the ocean.
Likewise a mind is made of the flow of thoughts as consciousness pulls it towards its destination of now.
When a river slows down and comes to a stop it joins the ocean.
When a mind slows down and comes to a stop it joins the now.
All thoughts are the result of sense contacts. As thought flows smoothly along it occasionally stops. Attachment to one thought is created by a momentary attachment to one particular sense contact and thereby blocks the awareness of the flow. The prior flow of sense contacts disappears (the now disappears). Rocks in the water affect the flow of the river and cause turbulence. Sights, sounds and touch are like rocks and create turbulence (emotions) in the mind.
My morning walk along the trail to the top of Chimney Top Mountain in NC climaxed in:
Being at the mountain especially early in the morning evokes the quality of a magnetic tractor beam. It feels like a fragrance that captures your attention and then remains. A sense contact is created and it continually reinforces itself so that the experience deepens and is kneaded into my entire body. An unbroken stream of conscious connection arises like the pouring of oil from one vessel into another. Like a diamond that allows light to shine off multiply facets at the same time each cell of my body connects with the mountain.

I flow into now.
The mountain fills up my mind like night in the desert.
Mindfulness arises of its own accord.
Fully being at home peacefulness and stillness abound.
Let the sight of the mountain cause you to stop. Stop being in your mind and open your heart.
When the mind stops the heart opens.
