Planet Of The Dogs

Planet Of The Dogs

In this alternate world, humans are either absent or have become subservient creatures. The dogs have created a civilization that mirrors their values:

  1. Laws and Leadership:
Society could revolve around alpha dogs in every region, chosen not through force but by demonstrations of wisdom, fairness, and the ability to fetch sticks exceptionally well.
  2. Economy:
The currency might be “treats,” with rawhide bones as the gold standard. Trades could involve services like grooming, belly rubs, and digging perfect holes.
  3. Architecture:
Dog parks are central hubs, with everything from scent libraries (like bookstores) to ball-retrieval arenas. Entire cities would be built around the concept of comfort, open fields, and shady spots.
  4. Philosophy:
Dogs might focus on living in the now, following their instincts, and embracing joy in the simplest of acts. “Chase every ball” could be their philosophical equivalent of “Carpe Diem.”

Introduction

A group of humans stumbles into this dog-ruled world, much like Planet of the Apes. They’re baffled by the advanced dog society, where barking is a sophisticated language, and dog philosophers debate the meaning of loyalty versus freedom.

Austen the Labradoodle (now a dog senator):
“Welcome to the Hall of the Great Howl! You seem puzzled, furless ones. Yes, we speak, but we choose wisdom over words. And we’ve built this world on two guiding principles: wag your tail when you’re happy, and bite only when it matters.”

Human Leader:
“But how did this happen? How did dogs take over the planet?”

Austen (tilting his head):
“Simple. You left your doors open, your treats unguarded, and your hearts too easily won. While you debated philosophy, we embodied it.”
